The Parish Council have receiveed the following vision statement relating to the land south of the Limes:

‘Vision Statement’

The Limes, Gosfield - Enabling Development

Strutt & Parker act on behalf of Roger Turpin and Tony Smith and who own land to the south of the village. Following initial dialogue with the Parish Council in 2012 it was considered appropriate to meet and present to the Parish Council in advance of submissions to the District Councils Site Allocations Development Plan Document.

The landowners are looking to understand the needs of the village in relation to the following areas:

1) Requirements for small scale village housing growth

2) Affordable village housing

3) Consideration for sheltered accommodation

4) Need for young person village accommodation

5) Central village open space

6) Is there a need for additional allotment space

7) Neighbourhood community orchard

8) Community contributions towards the school footpath network and traffic calming in the area.

The landowners are committed to working with residents of Gosfield to establish an area of land and concept that could deliver real community improvements through very limited housing growth as enabling development.

There are no firm ideas but given the small scale of the village a scheme of sheltered accommodation in partnership with the Housing Department at Braintree District Council could be explored. Development could be geared towards low scale bungalows or one and a half storey housing to deliver flexible lifetime homes for the elderly.

Elderly village housing in coming years will become a real issue for rural communities and Strutt and Parker are very keen to explore this with representatives of the Parish Council in advance of submitting our formal representations to the Local Planning Authority in February.
